Environmental Education Using Outdoor Classrooms
By: Alicia Lamborn, UF/IFAS Baker County Extension Service
Outdoor classrooms can be used as environmental education tools, allowing students to learn through their experiences. The following program in Baker County uses an arboretum, located on the grounds of the Extension office, as an outdoor classroom setting to teach adults and youth plant identification techniques and environmentally-friendly landscaping practices while increasing awareness of environmental issues facing Florida. The following educational program materials may be used by environmental educators as presented, or modified to suit the needs of your unique outdoor classroom setting.
