4-H

What Is 4-H?

4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning citizenship, leadership and life skills. 4-H is the community-based educational program of the University of Florida Cooperative Extension Service that involves youth ages 5- 18  in planned "learn by doing" experiences and positive supportive relationships. 4-H is open to all youth ages 5-18 regardless of race, color, religion, sex, disability or national origin.

What is there to do in 4-H?

The first thing to do in 4-H is to choose a project. 4-H members "learn by doing", so your project work may include competing in a contest, going on a field trip, giving a speech, or working with an animal. In addition to becoming an expert in your project area, a 4-H member will learn leadership and communication skills. There are several clubs in 4-H to choose from. Clubs generally meet once a month and have activities centered around the club theme. Click on the Baker County 4-H Clubs link for a listing of 2006-07 clubs.

You must complete an enrollment form at the beginning of each 4-H year which is September 1st.   Enrollment forms are available from the Baker County Extension Office (Agricultural Center) at 1025 West Macclenny Avenue or you may download forms here.

4-H Volunteer Information

Volunteers are a vital part of the 4-H program! Adults across America are helping young people learn leadership, citizenship, and life skills through 4-H.  This year the state 4-H program has adopted a statewide volunteer selection and screening process.  If you are interested in volunteering with Baker County 4-H, please pick up an Adult Volunteer Packet from the Baker County Extension Office.
